Biography
Todd has an excellent background in age group, national, and collegiate level swimming experience. He began swimming on the local YMCA swim team in Bismarck, ND at age 6. He competed at the YMCA Nationals Level in high school and held numerous Century High School records.
In 1997, Todd moved on to college swimming in Denver on an athletic scholarship at Metropolitan State College. He competed all four years, was named to the All Conference team three years in a row, and was a five time All American at Division II Nationals in 1999. Todd was the school record holder in the 200 back. He graduated in 2001 with a B.S. in Finance.
Todd began his coaching career in high school coaching youth baseball and softball. His swim coaching began in 2001 when he served as Graduate Assistant at Metro State until being hired at Overland High School to be an assistant high school girls’ coach. Since then he has coached at the Stonegate Stingrays (Summer Club), Chaparral High School Girls’, Grandview High School Boys’, and Regis Jesuit High School Girls’. He has coached all abilities from learn-to-swim to Olympic Trials, High School All Americans, National Age Group Record Holders, and National Top 16 age group athletes.
Todd voluntarily served as the Co-Chairperson of Age Group Swimming for Colorado Swimming Inc from 2005 - 2008 and he is also a member of USA Swimming's Convention Education Committee thru 2013. He is also the founder of the Colorado STARS Masters’ Swim program that started in October, 2006.
Todd has been honored by his Colorado Swimming (CSI) peers with the Age Group Coach of the Year Award in 2008 and the Coach of the Year Award in 2009. The American Swim Coaches Association has also honored Todd as the Age Group Coach of the Year for Colorado in 2008 and 2009.
Todd believes that swimming needs to remain fun no matter what age the person is.
