Veteran Official Kent Easty Receives Prestigious Maxwell Award

South Carolina’s Kent Easty was announced as the recipient of the Maxwell Excellence Award by USA Swimming and Swimming World Magazine.
The award was established to recognized officials who have made significant contributions to swimming. It is one of the highest honors that an official can receive. In order to be considered for the award, the candidate must be nominated by his peers and submitted to the USA Swimming National Committee by the appointed Officials’ Chair within the LSC. The award is given out bi-monthly, and Kent is the first from South Carolina to ever receive the award.
Over the years, Kent has made significant contributions both locally and nationally in holding several Chair Positions within the LSC as well as helping to establish the formation of competitive swimming in South Carolina’s High Schools by setting up and training officials. Kent has also trained and evaluated several officials from the onset of certification, all the way up to those of National caliber. Additionally, he has officiated from local Developmental Meets, Masters Meets, State Meets, to working several US Olympic Trials. Kent is still very active in South Carolina by continuing to conduct clinics for officials as well as overseeing several meets throughout the year and evaluating more experienced officials for National meet status.
Congratulations Kent!
Thank you for all that you do for South Carolina Swimming.
