Bill Sweezer's Funeral Services
FORT MILL - William “Bill” Alan Sweezer, loving husband of Bobette and devoted father of Brandon and David, passed away unexpectedly on March 12, 2011.
A memorial service will be held at 4pm on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Bill was born on August 19, 1957, in Reno, Nevada. He was the oldest son of William Ernest Sweezer and Janet Ann Sweezer. Bill was the dedicated husband of Bobette for 17 years and he was the proud father of his two sons, Brandon (14) and David (13). In addition to his wife and sons, Bill is survived by his mother, his brothers Donald, Thomas, and Richard, and his sister, Carol. He is also survived by his uncle, Alan Rordorf, cousins Kristin and Ingrid, numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family, one great-niece and three great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
In his youth, Bill’s family moved frequently while his father served in the Air Force. They lived in Germany, Greece, and Alaska before settling in Moreno Valley, California. He graduated in 1975 from Moreno Valley High School, where he was a member of FFA and the school band. Bill attended Cal State San Bernardino, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business (Concentration – Accounting) in 1991. He earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University in 1996. At the time of his death, he was employed by Wachovia in the Finance Business Information Technology department.
Bill was very involved as a volunteer with his sons’ swim team, Rock Hill Area YMCA Aquatics, and he was Treasurer of South Carolina Swimming, the governing body for USA Swimming in the State of South Carolina. He was often in the stands watching his sons while they were at swim practice. At swim meets he was either running the timing systems or cheering for his sons and their teammates. He always had an encouraging word for the swimmers. His friendship, support of his sons’ team will be greatly missed in the South Carolina swimming community.
Bill was always there for his boys and they were his pride and joy. He enjoyed boating and waterskiing with his family. He also enjoyed golfing and drag racing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the William Sweezer Memorial Fund at any Wachovia or Wells Fargo Bank to benefit Bill’s sons.
