Lot's of Info from SCSDD

SCS

First off, as you have seen, we have our Zone App's out. We are looking forward to a fun Zone meet hosted by TG. Volunteers for this meet from SCS are more than welcome, especially if anyone is trained and interested in helping out in operating the timing system for the meet, or at least in part. Please contact Christine Schammel for more info: schamu@bellsouth.net

Disability swimmers at Zones:
Each LSC may bring six (6) swimmers- 3 boys and 3 girls with disabilities who are 11 to 18 years of age. Swimmers’ disability must satisfy the definition of a disability as outlined in USA Swimming Rules and Regulations: a permanent physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.
These swimmers with disabilities are in addition to the permitted 48 swimmers and are not required to meet the time standards for their age group/events.

Karen Alexander is happy to give more detail, and answer any questions that you may have. Brooke Carr, our Age Group Chair, will send out more info regarding this topic as well If you know any disabled swimmers that would have interest, please contact Karen at: pixabugg@bellsouth.net We definitely want to include them!!!

We have our Open Water Select Camp info out. I will be at the Open Water State Meet next weekend to answer any questions, as well as have this info to hand out. If your club is participating in the Open Water State Meet, please encourage them to consider attending the Select Camp September 6-8th in Pinehurst, NC--my personal guarantee is that this will be the most fun camp experience that your swimmers have ever had!

Both the Zone App, and the Open Water Select Camp info are on www.sc-swimming.org on our home page as well as under "News."

If your club has an interest in hosting our 2013 "14 and Under Select Camp" this fall, September 28-29, 2013, please let me know. Lynn Williams and the Rock Hill Rays were our hosts last year, and they did an INCREDIBLE job hosting our best and brightest, with no pool rental fee at all! We at SCS want to be fair, and offer all clubs that are interested an opportunity to host Select Camp, as well as give our athletes the opportunity to travel to different parts of the State. Please respond to me by June 14th if you have interest and can provide free pool rental. We would need at least 2 x 2hr pool sessions on Saturday, and 1 x 2 hr session on Sunday.

From Mary Illich at USA Swimming about Online Occurrence Reports:
We ask that the club personnel notify all their staff and volunteers of the Online Report of Occurrence form that is found at this easy to use link on the USA Swimming website:
Also, if you ever desire any detailed information on this topic, or on "Safe-Sport," then please contact Colleen Miller, who is our Safety Chair/Safe Sport Coordinator--she is happy to help! Colleen Miller's email: splashschool@aol.com

There is word on the SCS streets that the High School State Meet has been moved up a week on the calendar. This has NOT been confirmed yet. I have contacted the appropriate people at SCHSL to confirm or dis-confirm this issue. As soon as I know, I will let y'all know. The main issue for SCS is our Board/House of Delegates meetings along with our SC/NC coaches clinic. Both are currently scheduled for Oct 5+6th, which is when we think the HS State meet has been moved to. As soon as we confirm, we will take a board vote to see what weekend we will move our meetings/clinic too. Once again, this has not been confirmed--I just want to keep y'all in the know :)

Friendly reminder--please send me your Meet Info as well as TM Event/Entry files so I can post with your meet information on our website. Previously our webmaster was responsible for this. I took over this duty last spring and I want to make sure we have ALL the pertinent info up, preferably before other LSC's do, so teams will not only look to SCS as organized, but come to our professional and well run meets also! Please send me the final info as soon as you have it.

Coaches Clinic with NCS and SCS--hosted by SCS: Like I stated before, we might need to move this back one week.
If you have any suggestions or ideas about our 2nd annual Coaches Clinic, or a specific coach that you would like to see present, please let myself, or our Coaches Rep Mike Lewellyn, know your ideas and/or suggestions. Mike's email is: smrtcoachmike@gmail.com . We want to do our best to have a GREAT coaches clinic with our guests NCS joining us as well. I am looking forward to it and your input makes it even better--let us know!

We are also looking to fill our vacant Finance Chair position on the SCS Board. If you have anyone interested, please contact myself, or Lynn Williams at: rayscoachlynn@gmail.com

Lot's of info--I hope it helps--thanks!
