SCS Swimmers Excel @ College of Charleston!

Just an update on how the SC Swimming athletes from your clubs led College of Charleston to 21 school records at our conference meet last weekend.

Sarah Boyle (Y-Columbia) won the 100 (54.16) & 200 (1:56.38) Back and picked up NCAA B cuts along with new school and conference records in those events.  Pablo Ortiz (TG) finished 3rd in the 200 Fly with a school record 1:48.69. He also set the school record in the 100 Fly 49.3.  Maly Taylor (CAT) finished in the top-8 with a school record in the 200 Fly.  Alex Wood (YSSC) set a school record in the 200 Free and was one of the top conference sprinters in the 50/100 Free and relays.  Jake Gregory (SMRT) continues to develop with a top-8 finish in the mile 15:48 and a school record with his 1000 split.  Cason Brown (LTP) was one of two athletes that broke the school 100 Back record.  Elijah Bohon (SMRT) finished 9th with a school record 1:48.4 200 Back.  Madison Tarleton (TG), Michelle Whitfield (Y-Columbia) and Skye Reeder (H2A) were among others from SC Swimming clubs that finished the year with lifetime bests.  Many of these athletes along with Mary Frances Babrowicz (SSS) were also big parts in setting school records in 8 of the 10 relay events.

We are very excited that the first three men signed for our 2014 recruiting class came from SC Swimming.  As we wrap up this current class with a big recruiting weekend at the end of March we hope to add a few more athletes from the state.  More news on this years recruiting class to come in a few weeks.

For more information see the link below.  If you have an athlete in his/her junior year they might want to look at the conference meet results at that link.  We are looking for athletes that can place in the top-24 (prelim times) in his/her freshman year at CofC.  We are pleased that all 4 freshmen men this year placed in the top-16 in multiple individual events which is a great sign for the future.
