What is a Swimposium?
Hey Everybody!
On my journeys throughout the great South Carolina LSC, I have had a handful of people ask "Kile, what is a Swimposium?"
Good Question! Especially since we have one coming up April 26th--only in a couple weeks!
Here is a little write up on a what exactly a Swimposium is from USA Swimming:
USA Swimming's Swimposium program is a one-day program providing educational presentations for clubs, officials, coaches, parents and athletes.
As part of the annual USA Swimming budget, resources are allocated to fund a maximum of 12 Swimposiums per year. Each Local Swimming Committee (LSC) is eligible for funding every three years.
USA Swimming’s Member Services Director works closely with the LSC to design an agenda that specifically addresses the needs of their membership while incorporating general information about USA Swimming’s programs, services and goals. Presenters address a variety of topics such as club leadership, parent education, athlete clinics, officiating and sports science. Theoretical as well as practical information is provided and the audience is encouraged to participate.
All I can tell you is it's gonna be GREAT--and it's open to any SCS registered swimmer!
